Myra Breckinridge The Movie!
I had to look up the film.
IMDB Page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066115/
Some quick info:
Apparently when the film first came out it was rated X by the MPAA in 1970. In 1978 20th Century Fox submitted a cut version that recieved an R rating. Both are apparently availible on DVD. Myra Breckinridge is apparently deemed “one of the worst films of all time” and scores 25% on rottentomatoes.com. Vidal calls the film an “awful joke”.
I has youtube links!
I found a terrible clip of the rape scene on youtube. It’s not graphic but it’s hilariously bad and I think it’s worthy of being shared.

And of course the movie trailer, which is also terrible.

Thank youu for sharing this with us!
I kinda want to watch the movie… and read the Myron part… but…. I don’t want it to ruin the great experience of reading the story Myra… because the trailer and the scenes look so bad. >< I wonder what Vidal thought of the movie… I wish I could just sit down and talk to him!
It was nice to see these youtube videos so thank you ^_^

Oh my god. This is priceless. I knew that they had made a movie for Myra Breckinridge and i have read many reviews about it, but to see it in it’s full techno-color fashion, i have to say that i know its bad. Even Gore Vidal said that they made a mockery of his novel and i wouldn’t blame him for saying that. His novel is amazing in how gritty it is and to see it perform takes away the mystery of the novel. Don’t watch the movie.l
